Overview
HI 8733 portable conductivity meter has been designed for use in both laboratories and harsh industrial environments.
This instrument utilizes a 4-ring potentiometric probe that offers greater versatility over typical amperometric designs. A potentiometric probe works on the principal of induction which eliminates the effects of polarization (a common problem of amperometric systems). Two outer rings apply an alternating voltage and induce a current loop in the solution while 2 inner rings measure the voltage drop induced by the current loop (which is dependent on the conductivity of the solution). A PVC shield keeps the current field restrained and constant. By utilizing the 4-ring method, it is possible to measure very low or high conductivity levels (up to 200 mS/cm) without changing probes.
With additional features such as a built in temperature sensor and ATC, the HI 8733 is the perfect instrument for measuring samples with fluctuating temperature.
